To people who have this belief, I like to point out that at level 3, I took my ele to go cap Ward VS Harm. How much help do you think I gave the henchmen? Calling targets is all they really need to win.

Because 90% of the world has a one track mind.
"Monks only heal/prot"
"Warriors deal high damage and take none"
"Assassins blow"
"So do rits"
"Mesmers are good for blacking out that boss with the 67 damage sliver armor"
Just deal with it. I have to deal with morons in pve missions all the time because my assassin "isnt killing enough." or my monk is "running the wrong build"

To the topic poster. When you break your leg, if your friend tells you he broke his leg too. Does it make your leg feel better?

I remember playing the first ring of Fire mission(dont remember the name) and we were fighting a large group of Jade armors, pwning our @ss. The leader was dead, and kept on spamming "NUKE, NUKE" in the chat thingy while i was SPIKING the jade armors. As soon as i died, he flamed me and left in a fit of rage. fatso...

OK i feel for you and know where your coming from, but you should know a well played assassin can out last any warrior. Any class when played badly or dumbly will die alot. I did the arborstone mission in cantha, the most i died during a single try was 3. the first 2 were lag related, the 3rd was trying to res the warrior who charged an oni, they were still there and so was the collapse. I did the villainy of Galrath with my sin and died 5 times. Why? Trying to salvage other ppls dumb mistakes.
To type cast a sin instantly as a walking corpse is ignorant. Id rather have a sin in my party then i would some dumb meat-shield of a warrior. Yet again, why? Because he has to keep aggro'ing to keep his adrenaline up, while i can wait or go as fast as my party does, or wants to. I dont have to control my teams pace to be useful.
However you take that or want to take that go ahead.

Yeah thats how alot of solo builds seem to work these days... killing people without dieing. When will we go back to the good old days when you could die and everything around with implode with guilt...
Sometimes running a non-cookie cutter build is just letting the morons of the team use you as a scape-goat.

^No negatives for rangers, we truly do own.
I don't stereotype against classes...if they want to run a build I've never seen nor heard of, by all means, do it. I take classes idiots in PvE don't like, you know...mesmers, assassins, etc...because they're far better than any Leeroy Jenkins wannabe<-not stereotype, truth.

Closed minds ruin the game.
I deleted my smite monk due to all of the flaming I was taking (ignore from 2 to full in one day)
The funny thing is that each time, I was added and the mission started.
No chance to explain that I am smiting.
When I did get a chance to explain, I got kicked, but not before numerous flames were spit in my direction.
It's a shame. I play the game to have fun, unwind from a tough day and when I get on I get flack for it.
Sure I can heal, but healing is boring. I want to have fun and play something unconventional. Don't try to force me to play the game the way YOU want me to play.
Yeah and those that say start your own group. I've done that before, only to have everyone drop when I say I smite and we need 2 healers ("but you’re a monk")
Then "hench it" you say...but GW is a MMO - Massive Multiplayer Online. If I wanted to play by myself, I would be playing something else.
In short, being forced to play my toon in a way I don't deem fun is annoying.
You say how are you forced...It's like this...play healing monk or fire nuker or w/e is the FoTM or you can't get in my group (or any group for that matter). So if I want to play, I have to use an established build or hench it and if I have to hench it, I'll rather play something else.

to the original poster: I congradulate you on thinking "outside the box" and exploring new ways to play the game. I do the same and it keeps the game fresh and new for me. It is unfortunate that others don't see the value of build experimentation.

I will trust you that this is a true statement, which leads me to two points:
1.) I can see that this is an issue that probably has been discussed a million times, but not all of us have been here to read and discuss, and
2.) just because it has been discussed alot, does that make the topic any less worthy of discussion?
Games change, and the players who play them as well. I am quite sure there are players that have only now become aware of this problem and are eager to learn more.
I thank you veterans in advance for allowing some of us noobs to discuss topics that perhaps you players are thoroughly sick and tired of.

I thought it was funny that some warriors are posting on this thread, saying that they don't fit the bad player stereotype, and in fact are chock full of healing skills and defensive stances. Roffles.
